This weekend, you can see Sly lay waste to hundreds more fools in The Expendables 3. But the man formerly known as John Rambo is, surprisingly, one of the NRA's most nefarious stars.
The Expendables 3 hits theaters this Friday. It's the third installment in the star-studded old-timey action series fronted by Sylvester Stallone—from the Rambo franchise or, for lesser moviegoers, Stop! Or my mother will kill.
The latest Expendables movie wasn't destined to get much love from film critics. "You want The Expendables 3 like you want football," wrote Variety's Justin Chang. However, the film will undoubtedly interest fans of the 80s car genre as things explode and unnamed people are shot with guns.

But here's one thing to remember every time Stallone's new gun fest comes out: Sylvester Stallone is the hottest shooter working in Hollywood today (seriously).
This may seem strange to you, because the irresistibly ripped, growling actor has built his image and fortune on being one of the iconic gun-toting protagonists of American cinema. "[A] cult like Rambo is seen as advocating the right of all Americans to bear arms," reports a Reuters report from 1985, noting that the use of firearms in the country has weakened due to "new terrorism in the United States ."
It's not that Stallone is a rabid libertarian, or anything. He was considered one of the Hollywood watchers who supported the Republican president from Reagan to. (Here he attended George W. Bush's first inauguration, along with Chuck Norris and Meatloaf.) But he was not a strict ideologue, donating money to the DNC and Democratic candidates, including Joe Biden. and Barbara Boxer. It must be said that Stallone doesn't talk about many political issues — but he's never been shy about airing his views on gun control and gun violence in America.
After his friend, actor Phil Hartman, died in 1998, Stallone became interested in this problem. And it's not just gun laws he's angry about; He wants to blow a hole through the Second Amendment: "It's got to be stopped and somebody's got to take a real line, somebody who's a political skeptic, and say, 'It's over, it's over, all bets are off, it's For not 200 years ago, we no longer need [the Second Amendment] and the rest of the world doesn't have it," Stallone told Access Hollywood in 1998. "Why should we?"

"To America, door to door, use all the guns, that's what you're going to have," Stallone added. "He is happy. It is really suffering. He is sad. We're in the dark ages [in America]."
The actor also spoke about the accusations of hypocrisy and acted like he faced it when they agreed to be stricter
