Ymca Lexington Va - J. of Lexington. The Smith Young YMCA has installed several improvements to its facility just in time to help its members fulfill their New Year's resolutions.
Kelly Malone, director of marketing and partnerships, said she hopes the new fitness equipment and a new mind/body studio will help improve her members' fitness experience.

Looking to update some of its older cardio equipment, Malone said the YMCA installed new bikes, treadmills and elliptical machines.

"Everything is great," Malone said. "Our other treadmills are about five years old, and they have TVs. They can connect to apps. They connect to your wearables, like you can track using your Fitbit.
In addition to the new equipment, Malone says the YMCA is in the process of installing a new mind/body studio. The studio will provide a space for people to engage in activities that focus on both exercise and leisure. For example, some of the classes taught at the studio include barre, yoga and pilates, Malone says.
"It's going to be a quiet place, a relaxing place where we can do some of our quiet classes," he said.
As for when the studio might open, Malone added, "I was hoping we'd be more connected at this point, but it's too soon."
A Swim Coach Without A Pool
The new equipment is ready to go and classes at the Mind/Body studio will begin in February. The schedule for those classes "should be released by the end of the month, so next week," Malone said.
